Capturing Claire Luxton's and Robert Montgomery ‘Art After Dark’ campaign in Leicester Square - A Photographer's Journey

Early Mornings and Inflatable Art: A Photographer's Journey

Working as a PR photographer for Mtart Agency often means embracing the unconventional – like waking up at 4 am to capture the essence of contemporary art in the heart of London. This particular assignment was both challenging and exhilarating, as I set out to photograph Claire Luxton's giant inflatable artworks in Leicester Square for the "Art After Dark" campaign.

An Unexpected Start at McDonald's

My day started earlier than planned. Arriving at Leicester Square before dawn, I found myself locked out of the park where the artwork was displayed. With time to spare and the need to stay dry, I found refuge in a nearby McDonald's – a stark contrast to the world of art I was about to immerse myself in.

The Magic of Rain and Art

Despite the rain, the shoot was nothing short of magical. The droplets added a reflective quality to the artwork, enhancing its visual appeal. As the rest of the Mtart Agency team joined me, we worked together to capture stunning press shots, the rain creating a moody and atmospheric backdrop that brought the artwork to life.

Emotional Depths in Robert Montgomery's Light Piece

The day also included photographing Robert Montgomery's captivating light piece. His work, profound in its simplicity, resonated deeply: "The people you love become ghosts inside of you and like this you can keep them alive." These words, illuminated against the dark sky, were a poignant reminder of the power of memory and love.

A Glimpse into the World of Art

I invite you to dive deeper into this experience by watching the video created by Mystry Rich an amazing documatrtuy film maker who has captured Mtart agencies projects beautifully.

The Joy of Photography

As a photographer, the joy of capturing such moments is immeasurable. I hope that by looking at these photographs, you feel a fraction of the excitement and wonder that I experienced while taking them. Art, after all, is not just about the final piece but about the story it tells and the emotions it evokes.

Capturing art, especially in the dynamic setting of Leicester Square, is a testament to the unpredictable yet rewarding nature of PR photography. Each assignment is a new adventure, a new story to tell, and a new opportunity to bring art closer to people, even in the quiet hours before dawn.
